Guidelines for Good
Sportsmanship
- Students should refrain from booing
or other unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Students should refrain from
unorganized or objectionable yelling.
- Cheerleaders and students should
continue in good spirit to support the team throughout the game.
- Student cheering sections should
give the impression of being well organized, well behaved, and
skillful in executing yells.
- Student rooters should reflect an
attitude of friendly, sportsmanlike competition to opponents.
- Students and players should show
respect for property by avoiding vandalism, theft, or defacement.
- Members of the student cheering
section should disperse in an orderly manner and maintain a
sportsmanlike attitude in doing so.
- Everyone should show proper respect
when the colors are presented and the National Anthem is played
and/or performed by a group. People should stand, face the
flag, and if wearing headgear, remove it.
- Students should show respect of the
official sand accept their decisions as final.
- Members of the student cheering section should yell at
appropriate times, with courtesy to others.
- Members of the student cheering
section should refrain from making personal remarks to opposing
players or spectators.
- Players on the bench should exhibit
good sportsmanship.
- The coach should encourage good team
behavior by word and example.
- Team members should be good sports -
win or lose.
- Team members should show a sincere
desire to adhere to rules and the spirit of the rules.
- Each host school will make every
effort to accommodate the visiting teams by providing a friendly and
secure field, court or facility.
