The Marmonte League believes that sportsmanship on the part of

Support players unconditionally with no strings attached. No player needs a pat on the back after going four for four, they need it after not playing well, or a big loss. Please focus on the incredible effort these kids put in all year. To be a part of our team is success in itself. Support coaches and their decisions unconditionally. The parent who constantly complains about their son's playing time hurts our program. The parent who tells their son what the coach or other players are doing wrong undermines the chemistry the kids/coaches have worked hard to achieve. Bad chemistry might jeopardize our chances of winning. It definitely makes the experience of high school baseball less enjoyable. Gossip, hearsay, rumors are a cancer to an athletic program. If you have a question regarding any aspect of our program go to the source. Remember we are dealing with teenagers and we live in a small, close-knit community and what is said usually reaches the parties involved. In other words, stay positive and enjoy the sincere effort the players and coaches are putting in. Set a good example with your acceptance of the umpire's calls. We are teaching much more than baseball. We will respond positively to questionable calls. Discussions with coaches regarding playing time are rarely productive. Our athletes are told where they stand and what they need to work on. However, if you have a question set up a meeting with the appropriate coach. Stay positive with our opponents and their parents. We will be humble in victory and respectful in defeat. When we do lose the opponent just beat a good team! Above all, enjoy the quality baseball that our athletes bring to the field each time they take the field. Our athletes are taught that they can, regardless of the outcome of the game, achieve excellence every time they play. Please do no talk to the players during the game. They are instructed to stay 'locked in' to the game. Side conversations are a distraction. The players play, the coaches coach, the parents support. Have Fun! |
