MHS Baseball Facilities
Many upgrades in the MHS baseball complex have
taken place over the last few seasons, turning it into one of
the finest in Ventura County. Our goal is to have the finest
facility in the state. Many new projects are underway for the
2007 season.
Lots of people have contributed to the effort. Players take
pride in continually maintaining and improving the fields.
Parents have volunteered time, expertise, and materials. School
administration has made improvement of the facilities a
priority.
In 2001 the first phase of
improvements made to the Varsity baseball field. A full size 10
inning scoreboard was installed in right field. A two tunnel
batting cage with five T stations was also added. The fence was
moved back due to the parking lot construction in center field.
The new dimensions are 305' down the lines, 385' to center and
355' in the gaps. A twelve foot warning track consisting of
decomposed granite was added around the entire field. The entire
playing surface was shaved off and leveled. The outfield was
replanted and the infield received 'turfgreen' hybrid Bermuda
grass. The infield now has a unique look that is becoming more
popular with all grass baselines. Once Mature they are virtually
maintenance free. A 700 watt sound system was purchased for a
P.A. announcer and music before games and between innings.
2002 included the construction of dugouts and a snack bar. The
home and visitors bullpens were also upgraded. The concrete wall
in center field and the backstop were padded and a flagpole was
added in right field.
For 2003 concrete has been poured in the spectator area and an
elevated scorer's stand has been built with storage and an ice
machine underneath. A ten row bleacher will be added on the home
side. Bat/helmet racks will be added to the dugouts. The infield
dirt will be upgraded to a better mix of materials and laser
leveled. After the Spring season the infield grass will be laser
leveled. A 26 " Jacobsen greens mower was purchased and a Ford
'Think' electric cart was donated. With these additions the
playing surface should be first class.
Improving the facility is an ongoing process that is only made
possible through the efforts of many people. The result is a
better playing experience for the athletes and a more
pleasurable experience for the spectators. The players also take
great pride in the facility and take responsibility for its
upkeep.
If anyone is interested in donating time, materials, etc. to the
effort contact

The program is in constant need of lawnmowers, rakes, tractors,
etc.
